Measuring Occupancy in Universities for Social Distancing

As universities grapple with the realities of the pandemic, they will need an easy to deploy and auditable solution to ensure occupancy limits. In order for on-campus activities to commence, strict occupancy control limits will have to be maintained at a level considered safe by government officials and health agencies.

Maintaining social distancing requires a data-driven means of maintaining occupancy thresholds and one that is synchronized across all stakeholder devices. The dashboard on the Aislelabs Smart Occupancy platform allows all stakeholders to monitor the real-time occupancy of all buildings and make data-driven operational decisions.

Aislelabs Smart Occupancy uses your existing WiFi infrastructure to anonymously triangulate mobile device position in a physical space without requiring visitors to sign into the WiFi or download an app. This automatically provides accurate counts of current visitors in real-time at each location and across an entire portfolio through a centralized dashboard.

Real-time automated visitor count

Provide security personnel with up to the minute information regarding the current occupancy levels within a building through a mobile phone portal without the need to count manually. Guards at key entrances can be easily updated on the number of visitors currently at the property so that when occupancy drops below a certain threshold, they can allow more people to enter. All security personnel have access to the same data meaning more entrances can be in use. APIs are also available for smart lighting signage solutions to create a red/green traffic light system at entrances.

Real-time occupancy of buildings and zones in a campus

When deployed, the Smart Occupancy solution can monitor the number of people within a building as well as multiple buildings in a campus. This can be used to ensure that not only the total occupancy within a building meets predetermined limits but also the occupancy in specific zones within the building through a customizable zoning feature.

Threshold and occupancy alerts

The system can trigger alerts when a building reaches certain occupancy thresholds. To remain extra vigilant and ensure proper occupancy limits, the Smart Occupancy solution automatically sends out emails and alert messages to executives and management when occupancy levels climb past a threshold. For example, if government and health agencies require a limit of 1,000 visitors at the building, a threshold limit of 800 can be set. When the occupancy crosses above that threshold, a warning is triggered allowing management to redeploy extra security to help manage entrances.

Occupancy status for the via web and apps

Real-time occupancy can be used to inform your students and staff of the occupancy levels of each building in a campus. Leveraging our APIs, notifications can be delivered to websites or mobile apps to inform people when the occupancy at each building is low, moderate, or high.

Role Based Access Controls

The occupancy dashboards and databases are shareable through privacy-focused access controls allowing you to communicate with stakeholders and regulatory authorities without sharing sensitive information. These features can be used in communication with guards via mobile portal about the current occupancy in the building, customers via your website and regulatory bodies in the event of an audit.
