The Holiday Guest WiFi Campaign Calendar: Visit-Triggered Emails and SMS From November to January

November 6, 2026

Holiday guest wifi

TL;DR

  • A holiday guest WiFi campaign calendar plans visit-triggered emails and SMS week by week, from the first November sign-ins through January win-back..
  • Visit-triggered sends work because they follow a real visit, so a welcome, holiday hours or a gift card reminder arrives while the guest still remembers you.
  • In 2026, the key dates are Black Friday on November 27, Super Saturday on December 19, Christmas on Friday, December 25, and Boxing Day on Saturday, December 26.
  • Consent rules shape the calendar: CASL doesn’t accept pre-checked boxes as express consent, and both CAN-SPAM and the FCC’s revocation rule set a ten business day limit for honoring opt-outs.
  • January win-back is the most valuable send of the season, because December sign-ins are often your largest pool of new guests.

If you’re planning holiday marketing for a store, restaurant, hotel or attraction, your guest WiFi is about to see some of its busiest sign-in weeks of the year. What makes that hard to use is timing: the guest who signs in on Black Friday needs a different message from the one who signs in on December 23, and both need to hear from you again in January without feeling spammed. A simple calendar of visit-triggered sends solves most of that. In this guide, you’ll find a week-by-week calendar for November to January, the messages that fit each stage, and the consent, quiet hours and frequency rules to set before the first send.

Why Visit-Triggered Campaigns Work Best in the Holiday Season

Visit-triggered campaigns work best in the holidays because they’re sent in response to a real visit, when the guest is most likely to read and act on them. A message that follows today’s visit stands out in a crowded holiday inbox.

The holiday traffic is concentrated. The NRF said a record 186.9 million people planned to shop from Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday in 2025 (NRF, November 2025). In mid-December it estimated that 158.9 million consumers planned to shop on Super Saturday, and that shoppers had completed just over half (51%) of their holiday shopping on average (NRF, December 2025). That leaves plenty of room for a well-timed last-minute message.

Gift cards are another reason to plan ahead. The NRF found that 43% of shoppers planned to purchase at least one gift card in the 2025 season (NRF, December 2025), which makes them a natural late-December message for restaurants, hotels and attractions as well as retailers.

Which Guest WiFi Marketing Platforms Handle the Captive Portal, Email and SMS?

A guest WiFi marketing platform for holiday campaigns needs a branded captive portal that captures consent, plus email and SMS sends triggered by visits. Aislelabs provides these as two separate products that work on the same guest records.

Aislelabs Connect runs a fully branded captive portal with multiple authentication methods, including email verification, SMS, social login and room or folio number, and supports GDPR, CASL and CCPA compliant consent capture. Aislelabs Marketing runs on the guest records Aislelabs Connect captures at the portal. It sends visit-triggered email and SMS, first-visit welcomes and lapsed guest win-backs with configurable thresholds, and it reports campaign attribution to return visits.

If you already use an email platform or CRM, Connect can sync guest records through our integrations, including Salesforce and Hubspot sync. Our post on when to use SMS vs email in WiFi marketing covers channel choice in more depth.

The Week-by-Week Holiday Campaign Calendar

The holiday campaign calendar below maps each stage of the season to one visit-triggered send, so every guest gets a message that fits when they visited.

WeekTriggerMessage
Early NovemberFirst visitWelcome, holiday hours and events
November 23 to 30Visit during Black Friday weekThank-you, weekend hours, Cyber Monday reminder
December 1 to 13First or repeat visitGift guide, gift cards, party bookings
December 14 to 24Visit in final two weeksLast-minute hours, gift cards, pickup options
December 26 to 31Visit after ChristmasBoxing Day, returns, New Year’s Eve plans
JanuaryNo return within your thresholdLapsed guest win-back offer

November: welcome, holiday hours and Black Friday. Start the season by making sure every first-time guest gets a welcome. A 24 hour email with holiday hours, events and a reason to come back sets up everything that follows. For guests who visit during Black Friday week, a short thank-you with weekend hours works better than another discount, because they’ve already bought.

December: gift guides, gift cards and last-minute sends. Early December is the time for gift guides and party bookings, since most shoppers still have half their list to go. Restaurants can promote private dining and gift cards, hotels can promote New Year’s Eve packages, and attractions can promote memberships as gifts. In the final two weeks, switch to short, practical messages: extended hours, pickup options and gift cards.

Boxing Day to New Year’s Eve. After Christmas, change the message from gifts to the guest’s own plans. In Canada, Boxing Day falls on Saturday, December 26, 2026, so retailers can remind December guests about it. Restaurants and hotels can promote New Year’s Eve, which falls on a Thursday this year.

From our work with shopping centers: A shopping center we work with set a first WiFi connection to trigger a branded welcome offer that was time-limited and single-use. Testing the flow before launch exposed a screenshot loophole, which the team fixed with a live countdown on the redemption page and a visible terms note.

January: Make Win-Back the Season’s Most Important Send

January win-back is often the most valuable holiday campaign because December tends to bring in more new guest records than a typical month. Set a lapsed guest threshold, such as 30 days without a return visit, and send a January offer, a new menu or an event invitation.

Connect’s return visit metrics show whether those guests came back, and Marketing’s attribution reports connect each campaign to return visits. Our post on automated marketing journeys from guest WiFi covers how the same triggers run all year.

The holiday calendar only works if your consent and sending rules are set before the first send. Decide these now:

  • Consent in Canada. The CRTC says that a default toggling state that assumes consent, such as a pre-checked box, “cannot be used as a means of obtaining express consent” under CASL (CRTC, October 2012). Use a separate, unticked opt-in. The CRTC also says unsubscribe requests must take effect within 10 business days (CRTC, updated August 2024).
  • Email in the US. The FTC’s CAN-SPAM compliance guide requires a valid physical postal address in each message and says you must honor opt-outs within 10 business days, with penalties of up to $53,088 per violating email (FTC, updated July 2025).
  • SMS in the US. The FCC’s rule on revoking consent took effect on April 11, 2025 and treats replies such as “stop,” “cancel” or “unsubscribe” as a revocation that must be honored within ten business days (Kelley Drye, October 2024).
  • Quiet hours. The FCC’s telephone solicitation rules restrict solicitations to residential subscribers before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. local time. Use that window as your SMS quiet hours.
  • Frequency. Cap each guest at one visit-triggered message per visit and no more than a couple a week, even in December.

This isn’t legal advice, so check your wording and processes with counsel. Our guide to guest WiFi security and compliance has more background.

Adapting the Calendar for Retail, Restaurants, Hotels and Attractions

The same calendar works across venue types, with different messages at each stage. Retailers lean on Black Friday, Super Saturday and Boxing Day. Restaurants focus on party bookings, gift cards and the slow January. Hotels sign in guests by room or folio number and send post-stay offers for next season, and attractions promote memberships and spring events.

Visitor analytics is optional here. Multi-zone venues such as shopping centers, attractions and large resorts can add Aislelabs Flow AI for footfall and dwell by zone, but a single-room store or restaurant doesn’t need zone mapping or heatmaps to run this calendar.

Plan Your Holiday Campaigns With Aislelabs

Aislelabs offers three separate products, each available on its own, and the Aislelabs products page compares them. For a holiday campaign calendar, Aislelabs Connect captures consented guest records at a branded portal, and Aislelabs Marketing sends the visit-triggered welcomes, holiday messages and January win-backs, with campaign monitoring and attribution to return visits. Aislelabs Flow adds zone-level footfall and dwell for venues with distinct zones, and its data stays separate from Connect and Marketing.

Aislelabs works with multiple WiFi hardware vendors and is ISO 27001:2022 certified, as described on our security page.

Aislelabs covers them with two separate products: Aislelabs Connect for the branded captive portal and consent capture, and Aislelabs Marketing for visit-triggered email and SMS campaigns.

When should I start planning holiday guest WiFi campaigns?

Start in October or early November, so your portal, consent wording and welcome messages are ready before Black Friday on November 27, 2026.

What is a visit-triggered campaign?

A visit-triggered campaign is an email or SMS sent automatically after a guest signs in to your WiFi, such as a first-visit welcome or a thank-you with holiday hours.

Send no more than one visit-triggered message per visit and a couple a week at most, and respect quiet hours for SMS.

What time of day should holiday SMS be sent?

Send holiday SMS between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. in the guest’s local time, which matches the FCC’s time limits for telephone solicitations.
